They don't want people staying too long in it.
Apparently, according to CCP, Facwar is meant to be a transitory educational experience, not a permanent game style. For the people who wish to make it that way, tough luck. CCP doesn't want to improve a product they know is non-ideal because they don't want people to keep doing it. Hence: No isk-making potential. No real, significant changes to system capturing that might make people stick it out. No improvements that require real skill out of pilots, because they don't want pilots with real skill remaining there.
I think the exact quote was, "They didn't want Facwar messing with 0.0 politics."
Tip: If you create a lowsec product that drains from the 0.0 product, the solution is not to gimp the lowsec one.
/me shrugs and moves on.
That is horribly short- sighted from CCP. Facwar messing with 0.0 politics? There are a lot of players who don't *want* 0.0 politics. Where can constant solo and small gang warfare with plentiful restocking be found in 0.0? That's what I want from EVE. FW gives it to me. So I'll stick around in FW longer than intended, I don't care if they want me there or not.
You're not alone, that is exactly what I want from EVE, as well. Also, I wish to defend the interests of the Gallente Federation and the Minmatar Republic, not the interests of some random CEO who can destroy everything I've worked for, in a matter of minutes.
As such, I have absolutely no interest in 0.0 politics. I do have a serious interest in the Gallente/Minmatar vs Caldari/Amarr war though, and I even like to think that our actions in the militia, will actually have some sort of impact (no matter how small) on the way the EVE Storyline progresses.
CCP needs to remember that the "Age of Sci-fi MMOs" is fast approaching, and with will come many games featuring factional warfare in some way, shape or form. They really need to start paying more attention to this (vital) part of their game if they wish to keep their excellent player retention rate.
